The Lakes of Muirfield offers a quiet haven away from the demands of urban life. Being only 35 minutes away from downtown Calgary and 25 minutes away from the airport, Muirfield retains a close proximity to city, but without the associated stress. Upon completion of Stoney Trail (Calgary’s new ring road), access into Muirfield will become even more convenient.
The developers at The Lakes of Muirfield have made living in a safe environment a top priority. Fire suppression systems built into the homes, a gated entryway to control traffic and entry into the community and a security office at the Home Owner’s Association office is planned for that extra level of security.
The golf course at The Lakes of Muirfield is designed to target the mid to higher handicap golfer. This is to say that this demographic makes up 95% of the golfing public. Clearly there are many examples of golf tracts that have been designed to challenge the single digit golfers and professionals in the area – however when our target market plays these tracts, they find them expensive and without gratification at the end of the day.
The short-term mission in designing and creating the links at The Lakes of Muirfield is really two-fold. First and foremost is to craft one of the most pleasant vistas as viewed from the rear of the housing development throughout the project. The other core deliverable is to craft a full length set of golf links that have all of the aesthetics of the exclusive championship tracts in the area and yet allow our players to score well as a consequence of a mid to high handicap-friendly design. The Lakes of Muirfield has been designed as a ‘walking-friendly’ golf course, (but carts are, of course, available!)
We absolutely believe that that our target markets have adopted healthy habits, and therefore a walking friendly golf course is complimentary to that lifestyle. Homeowner members will have a right to 1/3 of the available tee times at a nominal fee equal to 1/3 of the public fee, and will be allowed to book their tee times 4 weeks in advance.
The homeowner members’ playing rights on the links at The Lakes of Muirfield will be entrenched in an ground lease agreement registered on the golf course properties.
