Muirfield Land Corp, an Alberta corporation, is pleased to present “The Lakes of Muirfield.”

This is the latest master-planned community co-ventured by Sunwest Enterprises Ltd., a British Columbia corporation that will have its 30th anniversary in 2009; and the Unicare Group of Companies of North Vancouver, BC, being Sunwest’s co-venture partner in this project.

During the past 3 decades, Sunwest has been responsible for many higher end, custom developments and construction projects, both residential and commercial. In the 1980’s, Sunwest was building both homes in master-planned communities and commercial structures, including the Surrey Place Professional Centre and the Brookswood Professional Centre, the two of these being in the Fraser Valley of BC. By the late 80’s and into the 90’s, Sunwest was concentrating on building mixed use high rises for residential and commercial use. One example of this is Sunwest Estates in Surrey, BC. [Please see picture in left column] In the mid 90’s, Sunwest embarked upon a bold project, which would become the Cimarron Golf Resort just outside Palm Springs, California, USA. This crowning achievement has won many awards, including being picked by Golf Digest as one of their “Best Places to Play” in 2002 and 2003. The Cimarron Golf Resort is a destination facility, and it demonstrates the highest level of quality land development. The Cimarron Golf Resort project had many of the same deliverables as the development of the Lakes of Muirfield. [Please see link to Cimarron website in left column.]

The most current collaboration between Sunwest and Unicare is the proposed P2 development in Penticton, BC, which is a mixed-use retail/commercial and residential high-rise project that will both be a very progressive development. This development is promoting a pedestrian lifestyle, with shops and residential units in an urban village setting. As well, this development will be built to a very high sustainable standard. This means that the community is managed in a way that balances the social, economic and environmental implications of the project now and ongoing in order to meet peoples’ needs today without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their needs.

Muirfield Land Corp has gathered up a highly professional and highly experienced team of resources to plan, construct and operate the Lakes of Muirfield project. These resources include: Newis-Wilson Golf Course and Subdivision planners, Progressive Engineering – Civil Engineering, MPE Engineering – Water Treatment and Waste Management Engineers, EBA Consulting Engineers – GeoTechnical Engineers, Top Notch Construction and Richard Brothers Construction – earth moving, Knibb Developments Ltd – Infrastructure and Road Builders, Corix Utilities Inc – Water and Sanitary Utilities.

These resources represent some of the largest and most qualified civil contractors in the Southern Alberta marketplace. Given the investment in planning, assembling the team and taking the project forward, Muirfield Land Corp is absolutely confident that the Lakes of Muirfield will set a new standard of excellence in master-planned community development.
